End Meetings with Auto Text Message Google Calendar has a fantastic feature which will remind you of an upcoming appointment. On the detail page for any event, click on "add a reminder" under options. You can choose from several different types of reminders: - Email - have an email sent to you - SMS - have a text message sent to you - Pop-up - have a browser pop-up remind you Ok, this sounds kind of handy for people who may "live" off of their Google Calendar, but its actually quite useful even if used occassionally. END MEETINGS - If you have a meeting or appointment that y ou think may run long (or if you know the person tends to talk and talk), set an appointment for the end of the meeting with an SMS reminder. When you get the text message, you can quickly excuse yourself to check your messages. After that, you can "conveniently" excuse yourself because of some other event which has occurred. This tactic is best used when your further involvement in the meeting is not necessary, so I like to try and get the business wrapped up first. Of course, you can also use the same trick to wake yourself up, remind you to record a show, remind you to contact someone or anything else! The SMS reminder feature on Google Calendar is very useful and Free!
